What are the benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy?

What is the difference between open and closed system?

A closed system uses a speculum and tube that goes from your body and connects to a pressurized unit that brings water gently into the colon. It becomes an extension of your digestive tract and the treatment relies on activating the natural process of peristalsis, which is the bodies normal response to having a bowel movement. When you release waste while on the table, it will go through the tube. If the movement is too large, you can go to the bathroom to complete it. 

An open system uses a stationary speculum to bring a continuous flow of water into the body. This forces the user to continue to push it out, along with waste. The released waste goes into a toilet-like system. 

How often should I get a colonic? 

This is a very personal question that we can help you with based upon your goals. One colonic can be very effective for an acute situation. For a chronic condition, you may want to explore receiving a series of colonics. If you’ve recently changed your diet or are participating in a detoxification regimen,  a series may be worth exploring to move out the toxins that your body may be releasing through detox. For routine care, having a series of 3 colonics seasonally is a popular choice. Personally, I enjoy getting a colonic each day until my body says to stop. Sometimes that means 3 and could be more depending on what the body is experiencing.   

What should I eat while receiving colonics? 

Before receiving a colonic you’ll want to stop consuming food 3 hours prior. Drink lightly during this time and ideally not at all within the hour before to avoid having to urinate during the session. After the colonic you can eat normally. If you’re getting a series of colonics you may want to consider eating lighter more cleansing foods during the period of time, like, green juices, smoothies, fruits, and salads, while still making sure to get the proper amount of calories.
